You can learn more about us, and put a face to each name by visiting our Meet the Team page on the Marianapolis website.
Karen Tata - Associate Head of School
Michelle Drew - School Counselor & Academic Resource Advisor
James Richardson - Director of College Placement
Jessica O’Brien - Academic Administrative Assistant
Bella Jackson - English Language Faculty, International Student Advisor
The following information serves as a timeline of future communication and expectations.
Academic Placement & Scheduling:
May: The Academic Office begins a full review of your application, grade reports, and letters of recommendation. It is through this review that we learn more about your interests, successes, and achievements. This review will define necessary placement testing for our new students and will identify all acceptable transfer credits and courses.
During this time we ask you to continue to browse through the online Course Catalog and continue to orient yourself to the Academic program, including a general introduction, explanation of policies, and information about enrichment and experiential learning opportunities. This resource will provide you with course descriptions that include grade level and prerequisite details for all required courses, as well as electives in each department.
June: After perusing the Course Catalog, you will be asked to submit your course selections through Knights Hub. You will have the opportunity to indicate your interests and preferences in a variety of categories, so that we can build your schedule with your personal interests in mind. Your academic schedule for the upcoming school year will be created based on your selections, grade level requirements, previous coursework, and transcript/grade report information from your previous school, and placement evaluations if needed.
Information regarding summer reading assignments will be posted in the Knights Journey newsletter and the Knights Hub Resource Board.
Late June into early July: We will contact each student individually with any needs for placement evaluations necessary for accurate course-level placement. These evaluations will be conducted online through Knights Hub or through virtual individual appointments. Placements are first determined by previous coursework and then if needed, the results of this evaluation. All English Language Evaluations for our English as a Second Language Students will be conducted through Ms. Jackson.
Mid-July: Your preliminary schedule will be posted on your Knights Hub along with information for ordering textbooks.
Late August: A final schedule will be posted with teacher and classroom information.
If you have any questions feel free to contact me at any time. We look forward to a wonderful summer and to working with each of you as you join our Marianapolis community.
Best,
Karen Tata

Academic Office Follow-Up 6/12
Greetings Golden Knights,
I hope this email finds you well as you finished your academic year and are now enjoying some well-deserved time off. We would like to take a moment to update you on a few important areas as we move forward with your transition.
The Academic Office is working to develop your course schedule for the 2025-2026 school year based on your academic records. A full review of your transcripts, recommendations, and standardized testing scores has allowed me to determine your best placement in many of your subject areas. On July 1, the Course Request Process will open in Knights Hub. All requirements and results of your transcript review will be pre-loaded prior to July 1. At that time, you will have the opportunity to select your required and elective courses based on your grade level expectations. You will hear from me in the coming weeks if any further evaluations are needed prior to July 1. If requested, placement testing can be completed either on campus or online. More personalized information will be provided in the coming weeks.
We continue to evaluate each student’s profile individually and throughout the month of June (9-PG) and schedule personal scheduling meetings with each of our new families in grades 10-PG. During this meeting, your transfer credits are reviewed, our graduation requirements are clarified, and all academic areas are discussed. This will be a time for us to get to know you, your goals, and your expectations as you begin your experience here at Marianapolis. For your convenience, the meeting can take place on campus or online via Webex. We ask that you sign up for a convenient day and time through the following links.
-
All new international students, English as a second language, will complete an English proficiency evaluation with Ms. Jackson. This is required to be completed before August 5, 2025. Choose the most convenient time through this link: Ms. Jackson International Student English Language Evaluation
-
All new domestic and international students, grades 10-PG will meet with me (Mrs. Karen Tata) to evaluate all transfer credits and future goals. Choose the most convenient time through this link: Mrs. Tata Transfer Credit & Scheduling
Your Summer Reading assignment can be found here and also shared within the Knights Hub Resource: Frequently Accessed Documents & Forms. If you are a student with English as a Second Language, your summer reading will be based on your proficiency evaluation. More information regarding your required evaluation meeting with Ms. Jackson can be found within your specific grade level information following this introductory letter. Upon completion of this meeting, you will then be able to begin your summer reading assignment. All students can complete their reading at any point during their vacation prior to their first day of class. Your teachers will lead a discussion of the books during the first week of class and will then define all expectations. Be ready to engage in the discussion with your classmates. Be assured, there will be no formal assessment on that first day.
In the coming weeks, all students will hear from the School regarding additional summer meetings. At that time, we will talk with you about your transition to Marianapolis, your academic schedule, and all aspects of your Marianapolis life here on campus.
We look forward to our continued communication throughout this summer. Do not hesitate to reach out at any time with any questions or concerns. We are here to support you every step of the way.
Please see below for class-specific information and instructions on accessing the Course Request module.

Class of 2029
Greetings New Members of the Class of 2029,
As we round out the initial scheduling process outlined below, you will have the opportunity to meet with a member of the Academic Team. We will contact you directly on July 15th with a series of available times to meet virtually or on campus.
You will see that many of your courses for the freshman year have been pre-entered into your registration module- Humanities, Conceptual Physics, and Mathematics (based on my evaluation of your 8th-grade performance). At this time, we ask you to consider your required Modern Language (Spanish I or French I) and Performance Art (Instrumental Ensemble, Beginner Dance, or Chorus). While we strongly encourage a study hall for at least the first trimester, you may remain in a designated study hall for trimesters two & three or make additional choices in Visual Art or performance arts. Please refer to the Course Catalog when making any selections in the fine arts. We want to ensure that you have a full understanding of the course content as well as the meeting times and prerequisites. On July 1, the Course Registration Process will open in Knights Hub. This is a very important task and one that you need to take the time to consider in the weeks ahead. We ask that you complete this process by July 31.
If you have questions regarding your math placement and / or would like to seek advanced placement in Modern Language, contact me and I will be happy to schedule a time to speak with you. We may schedule an individual placement evaluation to assess your skills. Do not hesitate to reach out at any time with any questions or concerns. We are here to support through these steps in preparation for this fall.
Class of 2028
Greetings New Members of the Class of 2028,
The Centers of Excellence is an exciting opportunity available to all members of the sophomore class. Please take a few minutes to learn more about the Centers here. While our rising sophomores began the program in their freshman year, the Casimir course is not required for our new incoming sophomores. We now welcome you to consider joining as well. We will discuss this further during our individual schedule meeting. Do not hesitate to reach out at any time with any questions or concerns. We are here to support you every step of the way.
Class of 2027, 2026, and Post-Graduates
