Soccer - Girls' Varsity
Marianapolis Girls’ Varsity Soccer finished the 2024 season with an 8-8-1 overall record and 4-3 in the NEPSAC Class C. Despite a small roster of just 14 players, the team embraced a challenging season, balancing fitness and injuries from the start. Captain Chloe Alba '25 led the offensive front, while Evelyn Savoie '25 dominated the midfield. On defense, Faye Battersby ‘25 and Rachael Grady ‘25 exemplified resilience and determination.
With strong senior leadership and new players blending seamlessly into the lineup, the second half of our season was transformative. GVS became a different, more cohesive team than what we saw in September. Standout performances from Arianna Watson '26, Bella Miele '26, and Baileigh Kimball '27 brought All-Star quality to each game.
Season highlights include thrilling matches against Wheeler, Portsmouth Abbey, and High Mowing Academy. Baileigh Kimball, Faye Battersby, and Chloe Alba led in total goals and assists over 17 games, showcasing some of the best goals we’d seen all season. Chloe and Baileigh’s finishing skills, our fierce midfield, and Faye’s presence as a dynamic center back made us a formidable force. Freshman goalkeeper Izzy Gava '28 set a season record with 6 shutouts.
It was inspiring to watch the team grow, both on and off the field. As their chemistry strengthened, our players’ movement, field connections, and commitment to each other became the glue that fueled our playoff drive. Newcomers Camila Mena '27, Ashley Boudreau '28, Carolina Dogre '25, Colin Yang '26, and Mary Battersby '28 contributed not only as starting players in the starting 11, but also as morale boosters, whose resilience and camaraderie lifted the team’s spirit when we needed a good laugh or cry!
Coach O’Hara and I are incredibly proud of the grit and heart these girls displayed this season. MPrep Girls’ Soccer never backed down, leaving everything on the field. We’re excited to see how this momentum will shape the team’s culture next season.
A special shoutout to our WNEPPSA All-Stars, Faye Battersby and Chloe Alba, and our All-Star Junior select, Arianna Watson '26.
