Soccer - Boys' Junior Varsity

The Marianapolis Golden Knights Boys’ Junior Varsity soccer team ended the season with a 4–9 record. The record does not reflect how close many of the games were or how skilled the competition was within the Prep School league. Captains J. Chahine ’28 and R. Ishimwe ’29 maintained a positive spirit and strong leadership throughout the season. M. Podgorny recorded over a hundred saves and was instrumental in net all year. On the defensive back line, M. Ros ’28 and T. Nguyen ’28 were impressive throughout the season. A. Sanchez ’28, M. Sanchez ’28, and G. Vargas ’27 were essential in the midfield and added depth and creating chances in many games. T. Liu ’29 worked tirelessly as a right back and right midfielder. J. Can ’29, A. Li ’29, G. Gallant ’28, K. Trinh ’28, and K. Pham ’25 all made strong contributions and consistently supported the team. D. Kucharek ’27 played the lone striker role and scored one of the most remarkable winning goals the coaches have ever seen at Wheeler. B. DeGennaro ’25 served admirably as team manager, helping whenever and wherever he could. Overall, it was a season of fun, team building, and camaraderie. Friendships were valued more than wins—though wins did come the Knights’ way. After beginning the year with only nine players, the roster grew to twenty at one point before settling at twelve. Several players were called up to support the Varsity squad, while others were sidelined with injuries or knock. It was another tough New England Prep School soccer season, but given the chance to do it all again, the coaches are certain the team would take up the challenge. Coaches Gustavson and Liu are proud of all the Knights who fought hard this season. We wish all the athletes success in their next sports season.
