Eric GustavsonAssistant Coach
Mr. Gustavson returns from a 7-year hiatus to take over the MPrep varsity golf team. Gustavson coached the team beginning in the early 1980s when he inherited the squad from legendary coach Norman Bernier. He very much looks forward to coaching and working with Father Tim Roth MIC to improve the team's overall record as well as each golfer's individual skills. The practices will focus on putting which constitutes one half of the game as well as course management and strict adherence to the rules of golf. The student-athletes will be encouraged to take the game seriously but also have as much fun as possible. Practices and home matches will be held at Connecticut National Golf Club about a 15-minute drive from our campus. Coach G says "I hope we can replicate the past successes of the past golf teams we enjoyed in the last century and have as much fun as we did way back then as well. Remember to hit straight and narrow and that pressure makes diamonds".

Timothy RothAssistant Coach
Fr. Tim Roth’s playing, umpiring and coaching experience is diverse. After playing golf for more than 40 years, he has been involved in the Marianapolis golf program for the last thirteen years. After playing and refereeing basketball on the intramural college and post-graduate level for seven years, he was involved in the Marianapolis junior varsity and varsity basketball team for two years. For the last eight years, he has been helping to develop the expanding the intramural basketball program. For more than thirty years, he has been the official scorekeeper for most of the home basketball games. Many years ago, he informally taught beginners the game of tennis. When playing doubles, he enjoyed playing the “net”. In 2019, he was assistant boys’ varsity tennis coach. He has experience in playing, coaching and umpiring (refereeing) football, volleyball, softball, and baseball. He also enjoys spinning (stationary bicycling), cycling and walking.
