The Golden Knights Girls JV Basketball team had a strong winter season, ending 10-2 overall. The team was led by captains Molly H. '28 and Abby G. '28. There were strong contributions from teammates from the freshman, sophomore classes. The team had strong wins against local rivals Pomfret, Rectory, and Worcester Academy. They were challenged twice by Austin Preparatory, who defeated the Knights during a weak point due to illness and a close game by 4 points in the twilight of the season. The team worked on developmental skills and had a number of players learning to play competitive basketball for the first time. We were enriched by our boarding community, many of whom were still learning the sport. The coaches will look back on a season with pride. The team bonded together both in competition, but also in the post practice team meetings where they shared the ups and downs of each day. The team had post-game ice cream parties spent time traveling New England together. Rough winter weather interrupted a number of games, but overall it was an excellent season of victories, camaraderie, and team spirit.
