Win 50-32

Lucas Yash '20 scored a game-high 26 points to continue his torrid offensive stretch as Marianapolis blitzed Pomfret School in the first half and then held on for a convincing 50-32 victory in Thompson, CT.

Yash, with 110 points in his last five games, has become a go-to scorer for the Golden Knights as he winds down his senior season.  A threat from long-range and a creative driver to to the basket, he is averaging just under 19 PPG for the season.

In this contest, however, it was the Marianapolis' first-half defense that told the story.  The Golden Knights stifled the Griffins to the tune of 24-6, allowing only one basket in the run of play in the entire 16 minutes.

It was more of an up-and-down affair in the second half, as Pomfret, to its credit, played with much more intensity and purpose when they came out of the locker room.  But Marianapolis, led by co-captains Yash, Ryan Martin '20, and Danny Moors '20, kept a comfortable lead for the entirety of the second half and made a couple of big shots when necessary.

Paul Davey '20 and Patrick Sabourin '20 each delivered points in their first starts of the season for Marianapolis (8-5), which ends a thrilling and memorable season on Saturday against Tabor Academy.  Senior day will see the final appearance for eight excellent competitors.  Tip is 12 noon but there will be a ten-minute ceremony prior to the game to honor the seniors.
