Basketball - Girls' Junior Varsity
The Knights welcomed the Rivers School in their final season game. Marianapolis came out struggling to get stops and to put the ball in their own net. They went down 7 - 16 after the 1st quarter. The second quarter, the Knights started to fight back and find their rhythm. They were down at half 14 - 21. After halftime, the focus was defense, securing rebounds, and limit turnovers. Some full court pressure by the guards along with strong post play on offense helped to get the Knights back into the game, finishing the 3rd quarter down 4. They were able to tie it up late in the game 28-28 and even were ahead 33-32 in the final minutes. Unfortunately, Rivers was able to capitalize on free throws and some layups to go up 35-38 with seconds left. The Knights were unable to tie the game and loss a thrilling and hard fought battle. Marianapolis was led by freshmen post players Kate Melnick and Lauren Lemire who had 13 and 7 points respectively. Caroline Vigneault '23 added 5 points and senior Sydney Kennison led the defensive charge. Senior captains Kennison and Olivia Pisegna were honored before the game for their dedication, hard work and leadership to the girls' JV basketball program.
