Basketball - Girls' Junior Varsity
The Knights hosted Northfield Mount Hermon for their first home game of the season. NMH came to Thompson, CT looking for revenge from a loss to the Knights in their first game of the season. Both teams came out looking sluggish and trying to get their offenses running. The Knights were on top after the first quarter 9-6 and didn't turn back. The Knights turned up the defensive pressure and looked to push the ball on offense in the second quarter. Marianapolis went into the half up 21-10. After the break, the Knights continued to hit open shots and play tough defense, ending the game on top 51-20. Freshmen post players Lauren Lemire and Shay Cashman helped to control the pain on both ends of the floor. They finished with 12 and 11 points respectively. Guard Caroline Vigneault '23 had the hot hand for the Knights, hitting 5 outside shots and finishing with 11 points. Fellow freshman guard Ava Fabiano also had a strong offensive showing with 9 points. Defensively Lily Hayes '23 and Anna Czechowski '23 helped to put ball pressure on guards to lead the solid defensive effort by the Knights. The girls will return to play with another home game Wednesday 1/22 against Worcester Academy.
