Marianapolis varsity wrestling took a 21-53 defeat at Pomfret School on Saturday. Still, the match was much closer than the Golden Knights' last matchup with the Griffins on Saturday. Sophomore Szymon Mamro earned a pin and senior captain Alex Stawiecki wrestled smart to a 4-3 decision for the Knights. Sophomore Danny Ducharme and freshman Lucas Rhoades both took forfeits to boost the team score. Junior Evan Lundt had an epic takedown with a headlock in his exhibition match. Rhoades also got a pin in exhibition, while sophomore Johnna Romanek took a hard-fought loss. The Knights look forward to three more dates and 9 matches before the EIL tournament on February 5. Their next is a quint on Wednesday at Landmark School.
