Varsity Wrestling 48-12 Worcester Academy; 24-58 Portsmouth Abbey; 12-52 Pomfret School

Marianapolis varsity wrestling went 1-2 at Pomfret School on Wednesday, picking up a 48-12 win against Worcester Academy, while succumbing to the hosts 12-52 and Portsmouth Abbey 24-58. The meet is the second straight for the Golden Knights with a team win.

Junior Brendan Donegan turned in a stellar performance with two pins against Portsmouth Abbey and Worcester Academy. Freshman Lucas Rhoades pinned his Pomfret opponent and picked up a forfeit against Worcester.

Despite the low pin totals, the Knights took 6 matches to the third period, losing 2 on decision. That toughness is something coaches Miller and Schäfer hope the Knights can build on as they turn the corner on the season.

The Knights will have a quick opportunity at payback as they visit Pomfret on Saturday in a tri-meet with Choate Rosemary Hall.
