Lucas Yash '20 scored 13 points and Danny Moors '20 added 10 as Marianapolis held off Beaver Country Day 36-26 in a grind of a road game at Chestnut Hill, MA.
Marianapolis (3-0) jumped out to a 14-0 lead on the strength of exceptional defense and rebounding, and led 16-3 at the half. Beaver Country Day, after an unlucky first half in which they made only one basket, came out firing to start the second half. A 17-8 run saw Beaver close to within 24-20 with about 8 minutes remaining.
But Moors and Connor Murray '20 made a number of big plays to extend the lead to 32-20, and the Golden Knights closed it out from there.
Ethan Gosper '20 and Patrick Sabourin '20 made their season debuts and delivered strong minutes for Marianapolis, as did Colby Jacobs '21.
Marianapolis looks to remain undefeated on Saturday against Northfield Mount Hermon, a stout opponent. Tip time is 1:00 PM at the Marianapolis Athletic Complex.
