Basketball - Girls' Junior Varsity
Marianapolis welcomed Worcester Academy for their second home game of the season. In the first half of the game, the Worcester defense prevented the Knights to get their offense going strong. The Knights focused on pushing the ball in transition and if not, working the ball through post play. On defense they gradually improved as the game went on, grabbing loose balls, forcing turnovers, and getting stops. At half time the Knights were on top 17-10. The second half saw strong play downlow on offense which helped to open up shots for the guards. Defensively, the Knights continued to put strong ball pressure on W.A. and were able to finish the game holding them to 17 points. The final score was 40-17 in favor of Marianapolis. MPrep was led by freshmen Lauren Lemire and Shay Cashman with 12 and 10 points respectively and helping to control post play. Along with Cashman, freshman Anna Caechowski and senior Sydney Kennison provided terrific defensive play. It was a full team effort and a great team win. The Knights will continue their home stint with a game on Saturday against Rectory.
