Soccer - Boys' Varsity
The Knights had a strong match against a talented opponent on Saturday. The Knights knew this would be a difficult final match, but the team stepped up to the challenge. John Vigliotti, '21, opened the scoring by putting in a ball from Nick Basley, '20, in the first five minutes. St. Thomas More then woke up and put four goals in on the Knights within twenty minutes, one of which was a penalty kick. The first half ended 4-1. The Knights fared better in the second half, but St. Thomas More scored a goal from outside the eighteen. Jared O'Connor, '20, scored the last goal of the season off of a through ball from Ethan Gosper, '20, to make it 5-2. The Chancellors scored one last goal to make the final score 6-2. Notable performances came from Colby Pion, '20, James Alves, '22, and Hayden Buzzell, '22, on defense. Vigliotti and senior Aidan Cook both gave a strong effort in the midfield. Man of the Match was Cook, who gave his all and showed resolve throughout the match. Junior goalkeeper Conor Allen had five saves. The Knights end the season 7-10-3. The coaches are proud of the team this game and for a great season.
