Loss 33-39 LCA; 30-54 Portsmouth Abbey; 6-48 St. Mark’s

Marianapolis varsity wrestling lost three matches in a quad meet at Portsmouth Abbey on Saturday. Despite the losses, the Golden Knights improved across all weight classes.

Sophomore Alex Spetseris got his first varsity pin in the most exciting match of the day over his Lexington Christian Academy opponent. Junior captain Andre Looney and fellow junior Evan Lundt also had pins against the Lions, but the Knights lost a close one, 33-39.

Senior captain Alex Stawiecki and Looney both had pins in a 30-54 loss to Portsmouth Abbey. Sophomore Szymon Mamro got the Knights' lone win via pin against St. Mark's in a 6-48 loss.

Coaches Miller and Schäfer are encouraged by the Knights' improvement and are looking forward to a trip to Hopkins School for a tri-meet with Greens Farms Academy on Wednesday.
