The Golden Knights opened their season against a very tough Tilton.
From the start of the game, Tilton jumped out aggressively, which led to a couple of Marianapolis turnovers followed by quick conversions for the Rams.
The Knights battled hard, and a great first half offensively by post-grads Ashley Smith and Bronagh Power-Cassidy kept the Knights within reach as they heading into half time trailing 31-26.
The Golden Knights found themselves in foul trouble early in the 3rd quarter, which led to a smaller line up. The Tilton Rams capitalized on the height difference and went on a run that would put them up 15 points.
The Knights didn’t lay down, and a deep buzzer beater three pointer at the end of the third cut the Knights’ deficit to 10 points heading into the fourth quarter.
Junior Caroline King went on a run of her own with back to back to BACK three pointers that were a part of a 17-4 run for the Knights to take the lead.
Unfortunately, the Rams regained the lead and were able to take a 2 point lead with 23 seconds remaining. A turnover and late foul by the Knights sealed the deal for the Rams, and the Knights fell 59-56. Post-grad Bronagh Power- Cassidy led all scorers with 21 points, followed by Junior, Caroline King with 9, while Post Grad, Ashley Smith, and Sophomore , Rachel Ullstrom both chipped in 8 points a piece.
