Benigni On Saturday afternoon, the Marianapolis Golden Knights traveled to defending Class B champions Hamden Hall. This was the Knights' first game since returning from break, and they were anxious to get back on the court. While the Hornets graduated some strong players from last year's squad, they were looking for a statement win. In the first half, Marianapolis didn't take great care of the ball, with seven turnovers before the break. However, they were buoyed by the hot shooting of junior Chad Duke, who made both of his attempts from beyond the arc at key moments. Captain Raymond Espinal-Guzman also had two ferocious blocks (four in the contest) to help limit Hamden's offensive output. Unfortunately, MPrep went into halftime down, 25-33. They rebounded in the second half, however, behind a strong defensive effort from juniors Mike Levesque and Charles Mukweva. The offense was balanced in the second half, but was not quite enough to overcome the gap. The Knights ended up falling, 48-50. Marianapolis moves to 2-3 on the season (2-2 in Class B), and will return to action on Wednesday against MacDuffie.
