Loss 49-46
Lucas Yash '20 scored 27 points but Marianapolis was unable to finish off an amazing comeback and fell 49-46 to Worcester Academy in a Saturday road test at Worcester, MA. Yash, who was hurt early in the game and returned to action at less than 100 percent, led the thrilling comeback after the Golden Knights (5-3 overall) found themselves trailing 32-15 with about ten minutes remaining in the game. An array of three-pointers and difficult drives to the basket helped Marianapolis chip away. Two clutch three-pointers from Danny Moors '20 finally got the deficit down to ten at 43-33. From there, a spectacular effort on the defensive end, jump-started by Ethan Gosper '20 and Connor Murray '20, forced a couple of turnovers. And when Murray made a contested corner three with ten seconds remaining, the Worcester lead was down to 47-46. Worcester canned two free throws and Marianapolis missed a desperation three-pointer as the buzzer sounded. Moors scored ten points and Murray added five for the visitors, who trailed 23-13 at the half after a rough offensive performance against Worcester's tough man-to-man defense. Marianapolis looks to have a solid week of practice in order to prepare for an important weekend set at home - Friday against Beaver Country Day School (5:15 PM) and Saturday against Governor's Academy (3:30 PM).
