Win 49-45
Marianapolis 49 MacDuffie School 45 Lucas Yash '20 scored a game-high 19 points and Elan Johnson '23 scored 8 of his 12 points in the second half as Marianapolis rallied late to defeat MacDuffie School 49-45 in a thrilling contest at Granby, MA. The Golden Knights (2-0) led 23-22 at the half before MacDuffie came out from the locker room with a spirited effort and a 19-9 run that gave the home team a 41-32 lead with six minutes remaining. Yash then hit a desperately-needed long three-pointer to cut the lead to 41-35. While Danny Moors '20, Connor Murray '20, and Ryan Martin '20 turned up the defensive intensity, Johnson made three lay-ups off great passes from Yash, the last of which finally gave Marianapolis the lead back at 42-41. With the Golden Knights up 46-43 in the final minute, MacDuffie missed a three-pointer and Johnson rose up above everybody to claim the game's most important rebound. He got fouled and made two clutch free throws to seal the deal. Marianapolis outscored MacDuffie 17-4 over the last six minutes. The squad plays its final game before the Christmas break on Monday at home against Worcester Academy for a 5:00 tip.
