Volleyball - Girls' IIIs
The Knights came out strong, with a great start from A. Madden ‘23, and E. Walker ‘22 serving for 18 points in the first two possessions. Senior and captain, N. Nguyen finished the set with 5 serves. The Knights played excellent offense and defense to come out strong.
In the second set, the Knights started with a fresh 6 on the court, looking to continue their strong start. Deerfield came out strong with serves that the Knights found difficult to return, but they continued to talk and work together on the court to slow Deerfield down and gain some points.
Highlights from the third set include serving streaks from A. Madden ‘23 and J. Trkova ‘20. E. Walker ‘22 and O. Duquette ‘22 played excellent defense, and E. Walsh ‘23 kept the Knights in quite a few volleys with Deerfield. As the score crept to 25, neither MPrep or Deerfield could get a lead, but both teams battled hard, ending the set 28-26 for Deerfield.
The Knights eventually fell to Deerfield in the fourth set but kept up the high energy and communication to stay in the set until the very end. The Knights played their best volleyball today and were able to hold their heads high. MPrep will face Worcester Academy on Wednesday for their senior game. The Knights also have two more games on the road before their season comes to a close.
