Tie 1-1

In the most exciting home game of the season yet, the Knights finished against Wilbraham & Monson in a tie, 1-1. Despite playing a tough game against Concord Academy on Friday, the Knights still came out strong and confident, playing with an impressive physical intensity against an equally aggressive WMA team. Ten minutes into the first half, Julia Kilroy ‘20 put one in from a beautiful cross from Angie Hargrave ‘23, scoring her second varsity goal of the season and bringing MPrep up 1-0. The rest of the half required everyone to step up in intensity and physicality, as both teams had numerous opportunities in front of the net. Hargrave and Maya Summiel, '22, both made some great shots on net and kept up the Knights’ offensive pressure, yet the score remained 1-0 at halftime. The second half was a challenging game on both ends, but Chiara Faiola ‘21 was a star on defense, blocking crosses and shutting down breakaways that would have resulted in unfortunate goals. Shay Cashman ‘23 played amazing in net, shutting out WMA in the first half and making great saves all day, especially one from a WMA header that she saved from going in the top corner. It wasn’t until the last 6 minutes that Wilbraham was able to equalize and tie the game at 1-1. Despite this comeback, the Knights were still able to put the pressure back on offense and had some great scoring chances. Although the game ended in another tie, the Knights made a huge difference in their level of play that made for an exciting game of grit and teamwork. The Knights will face off in an away game against St. George’s on Thursday, looking to get another win on the board.
