Tie 2-2

The Marianapolis Boys' IIIs Soccer team came out with a 2-2 tie today, but the game felt like a win. Nathan Barnwell,  '23, and David Mankarios, '21, were a great team in the midfield helping to move the ball up to our strikers and controlling the ball in the midfield. Jack Perveiler, '23, and captain Keegan McLeod, '22, did an excellent job up top keeping the pressure on their defense and making huge efforts to secure the ball in order to open up opportunities for shots. The first half started with some difficulties falling behind 0-1, but the Knights pulled it together at the end, putting forth some of their best soccer of the year. That intensity and focus carried into the second half and got MPrep two spectacular goals by the halfway mark. One was a nice low ball by Lucas Rhodes, '23, kicked back towards the net after a rebound and the other an exceptional shot into the corner by Keegan McLeod. Our defensive line up consisting of Charlie Shamback, '22, Nick Buoniconti, '21, captain Conner McLeod, '21, and Matthew Tomasino, '22, all put in maximum effort into winning 50/50 balls and moving the ball out of our third of the field. Nick and Conner really did a great job putting pressure on Concord Academy's offense and speeding up the game. Tim Hall, '22, in his first full game in goal, performed very well. He was aggressive and strategic in his positioning. Today felt like a win and Coach Smith and Coach Buoniconti are very excited by the performances today. The team is looking forward to Friday's home match against Rectory.
