Loss 3-0

The Marianapolis varsity volleyball team lost 3-0 at home to visiting Middlesex.

Set one saw the Knights on their heels for a jump serve and slow on transitions. A. Boria '21 led the squad from behind the line and set the tone for flashes of dominance on offense. C. King '21 echoed Boria's serving prowess, while J. Golden '20 dropped in three kills from the middle. Still, the team dropped set one 25-21.

Captain M. Wall '20 was the story of set two, taking the girls from a one-point lead on the side out to a roaring 21-13 lead before a home crowd. Golden added 2 more aces from the middle, and the Knights were poised to push the game to four sets minimum. But the nerves of defending Wall's tremendous lead got the best of the 6 on the court, and the Knights dropped the set 25-21.

Although King added 2 kills in set three, Golden threw up several loud blocks, and Boria was still rock solid behind the line, Marianapolis lacked the spirit to push the contest close again. M. Walsh '20 was able to stifle the Middlesex jump serve late in the game, but it wasn't enough; MPrep lost 25-15.

The team will take on Suffield Academy on the road this Wednesday. Go Knights!
