Soccer - Boys' IIIs
The Knights opened their season up against Suffield on a wet day. With the win of the coin toss, the Knights elected to start with the ball. The Golden Knights started off well controlling most of the play when, nearly halfway through the half, Suffield found a seam and were up 1-0. The Knights didn't back down though and some good passing by Jack Perveiller '23 and Charlie Shamback '22 set up several good runs by Keagan McLeod '21. After falling behind 2-0 the Knights netted a goal by Timothy Hall '22 from just outside the eighteen putting the Knights withing one goal (2-1). Nathan Barnwell '23, Wondimu Weinberg-O'Brien '23, Lucas Rhoads '23 and Son Ho '22 kept the ball moving and were holding their own in the midfield. The Knights defense of Matt Tomasino '22, Conner McLeod '21 and Hall kept the pressure on their offense by containing them and keeping Suffield at bay. Keeper Collin O'Connor '22 had a good day in net by coming up with some big saves which could have led to several goals, stopping 10 shots.
Despite the valiant effort by the Knights, they came up short in their home opener 3-1. The Knights coaching staff was very pleased with the performance in this event and look to get back at this Wednesday at home against Pomfret. Thank you all for the continuous support during our season!
