The rowing Golden Knights had their last home race today on West Thompson Dam. They competed against Thayer and Suffield Academies. The water improved steadily throughout the day, starting out blustery and turning downright peaceful.
The boys side had a day of great results. The first race of the day, the boys first varsity, gave the Knights the first victory of the day. They placed first with a time of 5:25. The boys novice boat also had a great race, coming in first place with a time of 6:24. The girls fought hard in both the first varsity and novice races with times of 6:34.7 and 7:42 respectively. Although they both had their fastest races on the course of the season, they fell to the competition.
After the races, we honored our five senior rowers. Their contribution to the team cannot be measured and, while they will be sorely missed next year, we wish them all the best in their future endeavors. We appreciate the alumni who also came to support the team and hope to see them again next year. The biggest shout-out needs to go to the parents for supplying the team with great support and fantastic food. Their generosity is unmatched and helps to make the rowing team what it is.
The Knights have their final races this Saturday at the Mayor's Cup in Medford, MA. Please come out and support us. Go Knights!
