Softball - Girls' Varsity
Today the Lady Knights faced Ethel Walker and came home with a 5-4 win in an intense game. Defensively, the Knights played solidly with great catches in the outfield by G. McGovern, '21, and O. Sczuroski, '22. There were great catches in the infield by A. Bagley, '19, S. Hargrave, '21, and M. Benway, '21. K. Baca, '22, was a wall at 3rd and handled every bunt possible. J. Calkins, '21, made some great stretches at 1st for crucial outs. Offensively, the girls once again showed their strength behind the plate with 13 hits. The team started off slow with 1 run in the first inning then no runs until the 6th inning when a hit by Sczuroski put in a run. The Knights ended the 6th down by 1. Going into the 7th the girls took advantage of every at-bat. H. O'Connell, '22, had a great hit to bring in Hargrave for a tying run. With F. Doiron, '21, on 3rd, Baca stepped up to the plate and hit in Doiron to make it 5-4. MPrep closed the win with 3 outs in 4 batters in the bottom of the 7th. The girls worked hard and did not give up and their passion for the game showed today. They can't wait to get back on the field for their senior day Saturday.
