The wrestling team had an exciting Saturday with Landmark School, Buckingham Browne and Nichols and Hyde School from Maine. While the team only walked away with one victory some excellent wrestling was had.
It all started with BBN but their weight classes did not match up well with ours and only three actual matches happened. Marianapolis took two of those matches with falls at 120 and 126 by Cam Alicandro and Andre Looney. Forfeits to BBN marked the demise of the meet though as they won 42-24 on 36 forfeit points.
After BBN, the team met Hyde Maine and this back and forth match showed the determination of the team. Wrestling started with a double forfeit at 132 but the wrestling quickly moved along with two pins by Hyde and a pin by Szymon Mamro at 145. Alex Stawiecki again bumped up to wrestle 182 and notched a huge pin in the first period which led to Cameron Alicandro’s 26 second pin at 120 to seal the victory. Knights 30. Hyde 24.
To conclude the day, Marianapolis wrestled Landmark again with similar results to earlier this year. Only 4 matches were contested with the two schools splitting victories on those. Szymon Mamro and Andre Looney had pins to continue their strong days but the numbers were in Landmark’s favor and the Knights fell 18-36.
