In an unusual turn of events, the Golden Knights travelled to Chapel Hill Chauncy Hall on a Friday afternoon to see CHCH and Landmark School for the first time this season. These two powerhouse league rivals are always exciting meets and it proved no different this year.

First the wrestlers saw Landmark School which has a roster of experienced and aggressive wrestlers but no wrestlers under 138 pounds. After taking forfeits at 120 and 126 the wrestling began at 138 with a victory for Landmark at 138 followed by another victory at 145 and three straight forfeits up until 182 where an undersized Alex Stawiecki bumped up to 182 to wrestle and try to claim the first win for the Knights. In a heartbreaking turn of events he lost 11-6 in a match that went right down tot he wire. What an amazing match to watch. In the end, the Vikings took the meet 33-12.

Shortly after that match concluded the Knight met CHCH. CHCH has a large team and fills all weight classes which put the Knights behind the eight ball immediately. To add insult to injury, they started out with wins at 138 and 145 followed by two forfeits to go up 24-0 until Alex Stawiecki walked on the mat at 170 to take a sudden victory win with a 2-1 score.  He wrestled almost 9 minutes to earn his huge win to get the ball rolling for Marianapolis. After handing CHCH 5 more forfeits, Cam Alicandro stepped on to the mat against the best wrestler CHCH has and pinned him in the second period to hand him his first loss of the year. Andre Looney concluded the meet with a quick pin at 126 to end the meet with a score of 54-15.
