Win 39-9

The Marianapolis Girls' IIIs team won their home opener against Eagle Hill 39-9.

The Lady Knights took to the court under the leadership of their returning players. Sophomore Jasmine Creighton and junior Olivia Pisegna led point on our offense throughout the game. Freshman Sophia Rabitor and freshman Olivia Duquette hustled hard out on the court resulting in multiple steals and offensive opportunities. Freshmen Ashley Giorgio, Johnna Romanek, and Payton Booth took command down low, getting both offensive and defensive rebounds. At the end of the first half, the Lady Knights were up 22-5.

The Lady Knights came out in the second half with a focus on their offensive movements, and doing more to move both the ball, and themselves on the court.  Seniors Hanna Scheffler and Katie Joiner helped lead the team throughout the game, and demonstrated great leadership both on the court, as well as cheering for their teammates on the sidelines. Freshman Kaya Lukasek found her rhythm in the second half, and took chances both defensively and offensively. Sophomore Morgan Polinski kept shooting despite the unfortunate rebounds, and eventually found her groove with a beautiful three. The final score of the game was 39-9.

Both Coach McLane and Coach Sheridan were proud of the girls today, not only for their victory,  but coming out in the first game as a team and showing great sportsmanship to each others and the other team.

Point Totals: Joiner: 10 points, Scheffler: 4 points, Creighton: 3 points, Pisegna: 5 points, Polinski: 3 points,  Rabitor: 4 points, Romanek: 8 points,  and Booth: 2 points.
