Basketball - Girls' Junior Varsity
The Knights had an exciting second home game of the season against St. Andrew’s School. They had a strong first half, scoring 18 points. Despite St. Andrew’s coming back in the second half, the Knights triumphed with a 33-30 win.
Cass Belsito ’22 scored an impressive 16 points, making 4 out of her 6 foul shots. Co-captains Kelly Heney ’19 and Sydney Kennison ’20 played strong offensive games while Jill Reardon ’21 and Caitlyn Miller ’19 made several defensive rebounds.
St. Andrew's came back in the second half, scoring 21 points. It came down to the final few minutes as the Knights made key shots and presented a strong defensive front. Jenna Olivieri ’21 contributed points in both halves in addition to facilitating key inbound plays, leading to several fast breaks for the Knights. Jimena Solis Quintero '19 also played a strong defensive game and contributed points during both first and second half.
With four minutes left in the game, Marianapolis had a 27-24 lead. Despite changes in the defense structure against them, the Knights came together as a team, leading to their well-earned win.
