Basketball - Boys' Varsity
The Golden Knights returned to action on Friday night against NEPSAC Class B contender Hamden Hall. The Knights fought valiantly throughout the contest but their shot at the buzzer didn't fall, as they lost a tough one 68-67.
The first half saw a back and forth affair with both teams trading 3 pointers. Senior Steph Baxter had 11 points in the first half while Post-Graduate Drew Peretti had 3 first have 3-pointers for the Knights. MPrep trailed at the half 41-35.
The second half began with Hamden Hall extending their lead to as many as 13, until the Knights made their final push. Senior Owen Soontjens made a few tough 3's while Peretti connected on 3 more 3 pointers in the game. The final shot didn't fall for the Knights in the end but the effort was their throughout.
Baxter and Peretti led the Knights with 18 points while Soontjens added 15. Senior Jared Ullstrom added 4 points and 9 rebounds and Sophomore Raymond Espinal-Guzman chipped in with 4 points, 4 rebounds anad 2 steals.
The Knights return to action on Saturday when they host Class B opponent Westminster at 3:00.
