Kualim Johnson '21 scored 19 points and Ehmil Johnson '21 added 17 as Marianapolis cruised to a 66-34 road win over Worcester Academy in its last game before the Christmas break. Danny Moors '20 added eight points for the Golden Knights (3-0), who are off until January after an impressive start to the season.
The teams traded scoring spurts early in the first half, as Marianapolis went on a 15-0 run to take a 19-3 advantage. Worcester countered with an 11-0 run of their own to cut the lead to 19-14. Ethan Bibeau '20 nailed a floater at the first-half buzzer for a 32-22 advantage at the intermission.
Kualim Johnson hit two backbreaking three-pointers midway through the second half to help the Golden Knights extend the lead to nearly 30. The "bench mob" of Ethan Gosper, Patrick Sabourin, Aidan Cook, Connor Murray, and Sean-Patrick Houssan played the final five minutes and delivered a high-quality effort. Gosper's transition pass to Murray for a highlight-reel layup was perhaps the play of the game for Marianapolis.
The squad must now gear up for final examinations heading into the Christmas break!
