Soccer - Girls' Junior Varsity
Marianapolis put up a great fight today against the St. George's Dragons, but unfortunately fell short losing 1-0.
The Lady Knights came out strong in the first half. Sophomore goalkeeper Emma Allen took control of the box, and saved multiple close shots. Assisting Allen in the back was sophomore Jill Reardon, junior Ava LaRoche, freshman Ashley Giorgio, and freshman Claire Kelleher. The defense worked hard to continue to clear the ball out of our end, and up to our midfields and forwards. The Lady Knights had a few shots on net thanks to freshmen Gabby Fung, freshmen Sophia Rabitor, and Sophomore Melania Marrufo. The first ended in a draw, with both teams tied at zero.
Both teams came out in the second half hungry for a goal. Allen and the defense continued to work at defending our net from St. George's shots. Sophomore Kylie Miller and freshman Morgan Beaudreault began to win the tough 50-50 balls in the middle to propel the Lady Knights to make an offensive strike. Despite our offensive momentum, St. George's was able to get a shot off a Marianapolis rebound in the box.
The Lady Knights were unable to slay the St. George's Dragons losing 1-0. The Lady Knights look to rebound from this loss during their upcoming Parent & Family Weekend game against Worcester Academy at 1:30 p.m.
