On Sunday, October 7th, the Marianapolis crew team journeyed to Worcester to embark upon a successful day of racing. Lake Quinsigamond is the most popular racing course for rowing teams across New England, and it was an honor to join the hundreds of athletes and spectators who made the day great!

Marianapolis excelled at this event, improving greatly upon last week's times and finishing placements. The racing began with the Novice Boys' 4+, with rowers N. Buoniconti ‘21, J. Mobley '22, C. Jacobs ‘21, and D. Penny ‘22 coxed by courageous coxswain K. Woodruff ’21. The novice boys impressed everyone by not only managing not to flip, but also greatly improving their time and beating many boats! They earned 5th place for all high schools entered in the event, and they came in 11th out of 15th entries overall. Excellent work to all!

The next race for Marianapolis was the Mens' 1st Boat 4+, with G. Alessandro ‘19, M. Fontaine ‘19, C. Jacobs ‘19 and C. Ringer ’19 and coxed by O. Duncan ‘19, who rowed a beautiful race with a time of 17:09, coming in 7th for high schools and 16th overall. The Varsity boys shaved off 28 seconds from their previous race time! These fast seniors should be proud of their final fall race on Quinsig.

The third boat of the day was Mens' 2nd Varsity 4+, consisting of N. Trainor ‘19, B. Donegan ‘21, K. Dong ‘20, and J. Olivieri ’20, coxed by Z. Hall ‘20. They had a great race, coming close to the first varsity’s results with a time of 17:35 and finishing 5th for high schools and 9th overall. The 2V also shaved off a considerable amount of time from their previous race... over 30 seconds! This younger boat can look forward to undoubtedly gaining swiftness as this season and seasons to come all unfold.

Overall, it was a beautiful day to be out on the water rowing, cheering from the docks on land, or eating burgers in the tent on the grass. A shoutout to J. Mobley '22 for his excellent first race. We would also like to thank the families and friends who came out to support us and feed us. Coaches and athletes alike value the engagement.

The team looks forward to our final race of the season at the New Hampshire Championships next Sunday.
