Loss 3-1

The girls’ varsity soccer team fell to another opponent today as Greens Farms Academy walked away with a 3-1 win.  Both teams came out strong, but it was Marianapolis who had the most promising offensive opportunities early in the match. Despite the early chances up front, the Knights were unable to find the back of the net and it would end up being Greens Farms who got on the board first. After conceding this goal, Marianapolis snapped back quickly and began to once again apply pressure. A few very narrow misses kept the Knights trailing, but finally A. Bagley ‘19 was awarded a PK which she converted and brought the game to 1-1 as the teams headed into halftime. Returning to the field both teams had a good amount of energy and play was quite evenly matched. Then an unfortunate mistake in the back allowed for a second goal for their opponent and Marianapolis was once again trailing. Once again down by one, a few players stepped up their game and began fighting even harder.  Despite the great efforts of E. McQuiston ‘21, A. Bagley ‘19, M. Summiel ‘22, and S. Kennison ‘20, the Knights simply couldn’t find the back of the net and ended up losing with a final score of 3-1. The team once again hopes to shake this loss off and will be chasing their next win when they travel to Rivers on Wednesday for a 4pm kickoff.
