The Knights had their first tie of the season. going 2-2 with Concord Academy on Wednesday. The Knights began the match strong with a goal coming from Kristian Mena Correa, '21, after twenty minutes of play. The assist came from Pedro Alegret Font, '19, who won the ball in the midfield and fed his teammate. This was Mena Correa’s first varsity goal. The Knights continued to put pressure on Concord, and Concord also pushed the pressure on the Knights. Ben Laconto, '20, would pick up his first varsity goal after a low ball from Peetu Pakarinen, '21, was sent across the field. The Knights held Concord at the half 2-0. Ryan Martin, '21, had four saves. Though the Knights were determined to keep their lead Concord came out with force in the second half. The Knights bench was riddled with injuries and a number of athletes stepped into positions that they normally would not play. James Alves, '22, stepped into the back line and played a solid forty minutes in the back. Nicholas Basley, '20, also supported the defense as a central defender. Concord would score two goals within the span of five minutes, but the Knights continued to push forward. Ethan Gosper, '20, and Peetu Pakarinen both had chances on goal but Concord held their own. The match ended 2-2. Ryan Martin had eleven saves in the second half. Man of Matvh is Kristian Mena Correa who played his first varsity game, scored, and played the entirety of the second half. The Knights look forward to playing Pomfret away on Wednesday.
