Marianapolis lost 3-0 to Suffield at home on Wednesday's first contest of the week.
Set one saw Marianapolis with the lead through the halfway point, with strong service runs coming from senior captains M. Webber and J. Madden. M. Wall was consistent in the 2, setting up multiple hitting opportunities for her front row. But SA pulled ahead shortly thereafter with long runs behind the line of their own. 25-17 was the set one final.
Senior captain L. Madden went on the Knights' longest service run of the night in set two, catching the team up from a six-point deficit to tie the game. Junior middle hitter J. Golden also helped in the effort, with several loud defensive blocks and tips. Suffield pivoted to their leading server and captain, however, whose dominant topspin stopped Marianapolis in its tracks. 25-13 was the set two outcome.
Though Marianapolis posted a solid OH effort from C. King, '21, and K. Heney, '19, the MPrep passing game fell short in set three. The Tigers embraced two long runs to silence the Marianapolis squad 25-10 to end the match.
Marianapolis travels to Portsmouth Abbey on Saturday afternoon. Go Knights!
