Marianapolis Girls' JV Soccer put up a good fight against Concord Academy, but fell to Concord 4-1.
Throughout the first half, the Marianapolis Lady Knights looked to control the momentum of the game. Sophomore Emma Allen took control of the net, and our midfielders, both freshmen, Gabby Fung and Morgan Beaudreault held their own in the middle of the field, both having chances to take the ball up for offensive chances. Freshmen Audrey Hammond had her chances at the striker position for Marianapolis. Concord Academy struck first with two goals in the first half. The lady knights would answer with a goal by sophomore Jill Reardon. The score at half was 2-1.
Due to a first half injury, the Lady Knights took to the field with sophomore Kylie Miller in goal. Miller would take control of the backfield along with Reardon, freshmen Ashley Giorgio, freshmen Claire Kelleher, and junior Ava LaRoche with a guest appearance from Kaya Lukasek, who did not let anyone by her. Unfortunately, Concord Academy was able to get two more quick goals at the start of the second half. Despite the score, the Lady Knights kept their fighting spirit. There were multiple sideline runs made by sophomore Melania Marrufo, who was able to get a few crosses into the box. The girls continued to have scoring chances including a cross-bar blocking shot for Reardon, and a blocked shot for freshmen Sophia Rabitor.
At the end of the game, the team celebrated Aly Giorgio's return to the field. Today, Aly took to the field for her first game of the season, and not only controlled of the left side of the field, but helped lead the team both on and off the field.
The Lady Knights look to rebound next week with two home games against St. George's School and Worcester Academy.
