What Is The Entrance Exam?
It is a middle school assessment that 9th grade day student applicants take during their 8th grade year, as part of the Marianapolis application process. This standardized test consists of 5 multiple-choice sections that will test critical reading, writing skills and math.
When Will I Take The Entrance Exam?
It will be administered at Marianapolis on November 10th. Eighth grade students anticipating taking the exam should arrive around 8:00 a.m. You can register below. Please contact the Office of Admission to answer any questions or for more information at (860) 923-9245. Walk-ins are welcome, but subject to seat availability.
How Should I Prepare?
Students do not need to prepare. Just answer all of the questions to the best of your ability. It will also help if you get plenty of sleep the night before the test day.
What Should I Bring On Test Day?
Bring soft-lead No. 2 pencils. Calculators are not allowed. Students will be given scratch paper to complete their work.
How Long Will The Assessment Take?
Plan to arrive at 8:00 a.m. The exam will start promptly at 8:30 a.m. Students may not be seated after 8:20 a.m. The test will be completed around 11:30 am.
What Do I Do If I Don’t Know An Answer?
You may encounter some difficult questions that you do not know how to answer. If this happens, do not get discouraged. Try to work as quickly and efficiently as possible and come back to more difficult questions with the time that is remaining.
How Will My Results Be Used?
The entrance exam score is one component of the application that we review during the admissions process. Additionally sitting for the Entrance Exam is the only way day student applicants become eligible for a Trinity Foundation Scholarship.
What If I Cannot Take The Entrance Exam On The Day That It Is Given?
If you cannot take the entrance exam on November 10th, we will accept standardized test scores from another school's exam who will either forward them directly to us upon request or via a score report that you will forward to us. Please contact the Director of Admission at the school where you are planning to take the test to verify that they will share test scores with Marianapolis. You can also take the SSAT, PSAT, SAT, Duolingo English Test, TOEFL, or TOEFL Jr.
Taking a standardized test or an entrance or placement exam at another school will forfeit your eligibility for a Trinity Foundation Scholarship. For more information on what makes a prospective 9th grade applicant eligible for a Trinity Foundation Scholarship, please see the Financial Aid page of our website.
