The Knightly News on WINY - January 21
This week is all about highlighting our SHIELD (Students Honoring Inclusion, Equity, Love, and Diversity) program on The Knightly News! Thank you to Michelle Drew, School Counselor and SHIELD Director, and Sienna S. ‘26, for going live on the airwaves to share about our impactful SHIELD program, what its purpose is, and why it’s such an important part of our Marianapolis community.
The SHIELD program strives to ensure that our students feel like they belong and are included in our Marianapolis family.
“We have an open space where students can go hang out and talk about their differences and, more importantly, their similarities,” says Drew. “We’re really looking to have students connect culturally and connect across races, across religions, and just have everyone feel a sense of community and unity.”
Sienna is involved in our SHIELD program and enjoys the opportunity to connect thoughtfully with her peers.
“I always feel like I belong in Marianapolis,” says Sienna, “definitely with my peers as if it’s kind of like one giant family; you get along with a lot of people, and you get to meet new people from new places.”
Watch the full to learn more about SHIELD, the types of activities and trips this program sponsors, and other ways Sienna is involved in our Marianapolis community!
