The Knightly News on WINY - April 23
Did you know Marianapolis offers a unique Day Student Boarding Experience (DSBE) program? Thank you to Ms. Laurel Brown, Dean of Students, and students R. Lamarche ‘24, V. Vo ‘25, and E. Martineau ‘27 for going live on the airwaves to speak about DSBE, their experiences participating in this program, and residential life on campus!
DSBE gives day students the opportunity to live as boarding students for two weeks in a house or hall on campus. Day students can practice independent living, get to know our residential students, and fully immerse in residential life.
Lamarche is a Residential Life Assistant (RA) for our girls’ dorms. She says, “My job is to make sure they are having a good time and to make sure they have everything they need.” Lamarche enjoys helping day students in this program feel comfortable and at home.
Vo has had a wonderful experience with DSBE. He has participated in this program for the past two years and is participating this month. “So far, I’m having a great time,” shares Vo. “I enjoy connecting with the boarding students [who] have just moved in because it’s good to make the connections I wasn’t able to before.”
Martineau experienced DSBE last September for the first time with a friend. She shares, “It was a really nice time. We got to have close connections with all the boarding students.”
Because of this program, a great sense of connection and camaraderie develops between day and boarding students. “Kids come from all over and have a special opportunity,” says Ms. Brown. They “get to meet different people from different places and become one community.”
Watch this week’s episode to learn more about DSBE, residential life at MPrep, and other activities our students are involved in on campus!
