The Knightly News on WINY - April 16
Our Co-Ed Varsity Track and Field team has had a great start to their season! Thank you to Wes Howard, Co-Head Coach, and Captains A. Barnwell ‘24, A. Russo ‘24, K. Russo ‘24, and C. Semo ‘24 for going live on the airwaves to highlight all the excitement that has already occurred this spring!
New school records and PRs are being celebrated! Congratulations to A. Barnwell ‘24, who broke the school record for the High Jump early in the season! He is also two inches away from breaking the school record in the Long Jump. The whole Marianapolis community is rooting for him to make this happen at the next meet!
From running and relays to throwing and jumping, student-athletes have many opportunities to find an event that interests them, improve, and excel. K. Russo currently competes in the hurdle events. She always thought they looked fun whenever she watched athletes at meets. Semo enjoys the 4x400, while A. Russo focuses a lot on throwing events.
Mr. Wes Howard shares that these student-athletes are “not just making their mark on the track, the clock, [and] the measuring stick, but also making their mark on the next generation.”
Track and Field looks forward to their next meet on Wednesday, April 17, at Portsmouth Abbey School. We wish them all the best of luck; it looks like perfect PR weather!
On Saturday, April 20, at 1 p.m., the team will welcome Wilbraham & Monson Academy, Worcester Academy, and Montrose School to our Gustavson Track and Field for their first home meet of the season. All are welcome to stop by!
Marianapolis will also host the 2024 NEPSTA Division III Championships on Saturday, May 18! Events will kick off at 10 a.m.
