National Ocean Sciences Bowl Places Third in Quahog Bowl

The Marianapolis National Ocean Sciences Bowl Team came in third place at this year’s Quahog Bowl held on February 2 at UConn’s Avery Point Campus.

After three rounds in the round robin bracket, the Marianapolis team was seeded 14 out of 16. In the knockout round, they made it to the semifinals but lost to the team that eventually won (Science & Technology Magnet School of Southeastern CT).

According to its website, the Quahog Bowl is the CT/RI regional competition of the National Ocean Sciences Bowl, a quiz-bowl style academic competition that tests teams of students nationwide in ocean-related topics across the disciplines of biology, chemistry, policy, physics, and geology. There were 16 teams that competed in the Quahog Bowl this year from high schools in Connecticut and Rhode Island.
