Luke L. '26 Embraces Spanish Language and Culture in Salamanca
This summer, AP Spanish student Luke L. ’26 turned a dream into reality, thanks to a prestigious Spanish scholarship he earned this past spring! The scholarship helped fund his participation in the renowned Colegio Delibes program in Salamanca, Spain, where Luke spent two transformative weeks immersed in language and culture. Included was also a visit to the world-famous Prado Museum during a day of exploration in Madrid!

Dr. Parodi-Brown recommended the program, and Luke embraced the adventure wholeheartedly. It was his first time traveling solo, but any initial nerves quickly faded as he met fellow students from across the globe. “Some of my favorite moments would have to be staying up late at night walking around the city with my Italian friends, or hanging out in the main square with a bunch of people,” says Luke.

Beyond improving his Spanish, Luke returned home with a deeper perspective on independence and adventure. “Don’t be afraid to do stuff by yourself and take every chance that you get,” he shares.

Luke’s journey abroad is a shining example of how Marianapolis students bring language learning to life, stepping beyond the classroom and into the heart of the world.
