Jeremy Dutra Named Marianapolis Boys’ Varsity Soccer Head Coach
Marianapolis is pleased to announce the appointment of Jeremy Dutra as the new Head Coach of Boys’ Varsity Soccer.
Please join us in extending a warm Marianapolis welcome as we learn more about his story!
Dutra grew up in South Florida and began playing soccer for the Hollywood Wildcats at age 6. He cites his Portuguese and Cape Verde heritage as a driver for his love of soccer.
He later moved to Rhode Island, where he attended St. Raphael Academy and played Varsity as a freshman while also playing for Barrington and Pawtucket town teams, along with Premier Clubs ODP RI and BlackWatch.
Due to injuries, Dutra transitioned into coaching at 17 years old and got his start by volunteering at NEFC. He then began coaching at RI RUSH and joined the New England Revolution Staff from 2017 - 2023. During that period, he was also an assistant at RWU & Cranston High School West, then became the Smithfield High School Head Coach in 2023, where he made the playoffs his first year.
When asked about his coaching style, Dutra said, “I am a very attacking-minded coach, pushing numbers forward with intelligent, confident, well-timed runs in behind. Mainly because it is a game and players deserve to have fun, and what’s more fun than attacking and getting chances.”
Dutra went on to share that the core values of his team are honesty, consistency, and bravery. In addition to instilling these values, he shared that his goals for his first season with Marianapolis are “to make the playoffs, play good soccer, and more importantly, to improve every player not only as a soccer player but as a person.”
Outside of soccer, Dutra is a fan of comics and usually spends most of his time watching superhero movies/shows or building Lego sets with his son.
Dutra will be going into his 13th year of coaching soccer in his first campaign with the Golden Knights.
