Faye Battersby '25 Signs NLI with High Point University
THOMPSON, CONN. – Faye Battersby, a senior from Putnam, Connecticut, signed her National Letter of Intent to play soccer for High Point University on Monday, November 18.
Battersby has played soccer since she was five years old and has developed quite a passion for the game.
She says, “I enjoy playing soccer because it gives me an outlet to express my competitive spirit and make friends and relationships with people who share my values.”
Throughout Battersby’s high school soccer career at Marianapolis, she has been “a four-year starter, senior co-captain, WNEPSSA All-Star twice, NEPSAC and Boston Globe All-Star, and second-leading scorer this season as a center back,” says Marianapolis Girls’ Varsity Soccer coach Duun O’Hara. “She has been a part of the NEPSAC quarterfinal team as a sophomore and anchored the defense throughout her four seasons. As an athlete, Faye displays grit and passion for the beautiful game by making others around her better with her commitment to tireless and courageous defending. The entire coaching staff and I wish her every success as she looks to begin her D1 career next fall.”
Battersby’s time playing soccer as a Golden Knight has been a positive and life-changing experience. She shares, “I am grateful for the confidence Marianapolis Soccer has given me in myself and my abilities. Thank you [to my coaches] for coaching me and helping to create the player I am today.”
In her upcoming soccer career at High Point University, Battersby says, “I am looking forward to helping the team reach the Big South championship title and enter the NCAA tournament. I am also looking forward to learning more about soccer at the collegiate level and bettering myself as a player. Signing a D1 athletic commitment means all my hard work has paid off, and I get to do something I love for four more years.”
High Point University, located in High Point, North Carolina, is a Division I school playing in the Big South Conference.
