Celebrating Student Art: Isabella C. ’27's Work on Exhibit in AP Art Showcase
Our AP Art Showcase continues to highlight the creativity and technical skill of Marianapolis students, featuring new works on display through mid-April. This installment showcases Isabella C. ’27, whose collection is currently exhibited outside the Stuart Family Dining and Community Room through April 4.

Isabella, a Manchurian originally from Beijing, China, brings a personal and culturally rich perspective to her work.

“My work is deeply rooted in a profound love for my heritage,” shares Isabella, “drawing inspiration from the rich historical and cultural tapestry of both my home city and my Manchu identity. By weaving historical narratives with contemporary themes, my art seeks to visualize the beauty of life and the broader evolution of civilization.”

Specializing in monochrome and monograph drawing, Isabella works primarily with charcoal, pencil, and marker.

“My practice emphasizes the interplay of light and shadow, using meticulous texture to showcase technical rigor,” she says. “Beyond the surface, I am driven by a desire to investigate and narrate the hidden stories of my subjects, capturing the true essence of the human spirit in every portrait.”

The Marianapolis community is encouraged to visit the exhibit and experience Isabella’s work firsthand. More student artists will take center stage in the weeks ahead. Stay tuned!
