Ava Dussault '18 Publishes New Book and Shares Her Journey as an Author
Marianapolis alumna Ava Dussault ‘18 became an author and published her first book, Renee Finds Her Calm: Mindfulness Tools to Focus and Be Present, in December 2021. This book focuses on teaching children self-regulation skills.
Most recently, she published her second book, Renee Finds Her Inner Strength, in March 2024. Dussault shares that her “new book is about having a growth mindset and never giving up.” The main character, Renee, learns the power of words and affirmations to help change her thought patterns into more positive, mindful self-talk.
Dussault was thrilled to have a launch party on March 16 at Tatnuck Bookseller to celebrate her new book! Members of our Marianapolis community, family, friends, children, and more attended this fun celebration. Dussault enjoyed connecting with parents and children who have been avid readers and supporters of her book series. You can click here to view photos from the launch event.
Dussault has always been interested in social-emotional learning. She graduated from Providence College in 2022 with an elementary and special education degree. She received her Master's degree in social-emotional learning in 2023.
In addition to being an author, Dussault runs a children’s yoga studio called 2 Mindful Girls with her Mom. They aim to “promote mindfulness, healthy living, and social-emotional skills.” You can find out more about their offerings and core values here.
