Entrance Exam - November 23

What Is The Entrance Exam?

It is a middle school assessment that 8th grade day student applicants take as part of the Marianapolis application process. This standardized test consists of five multiple-choice sections that will test vocabulary, reading comprehension, critical thinking, reasoning and math.

When Will I Take The Entrance Exam?

It will be administered at Marianapolis on Nov. 23rd. Eighth grade students anticipating taking the exam should arrive around 8:00 a.m. It is also recommended to register beforehand so that you are expected. Please contact the Office of Admission for more information regarding registration at (860) 923-9245 or admission@marianapolis.org.  Walk-ins are welcome, but subject to seat availability.

How Should I Prepare?

Students do not need to prepare. Just answer all of the questions to the best of your ability. It will also help if you get plenty of sleep the night before the test day.

What Should I Bring On Test Day?

Bring soft-lead No. 2 pencils and a calculator for the mathematics test. No cell phone calculators are allowed.

How Long Will The Assessment Take?

Plan to arrive at 8:00 a.m. The exam will start promptly at 8:30 a.m.  Students may not be seated after 8:20 am. Test will be completed around 11:00 am.

What Do I Do If I Don’t Know An Answer?

You may encounter some difficult questions that you do not know how to answer. If this happens, do not get discouraged. Try to work as quickly and efficiently as possible and come back to more difficult questions with the time that is remaining.

How Will My Results Be Used?

Marianapolis will receive the results from the High School Placement Test and add the score to your file. The exam score is one component of the application that we review during the admissions process.

What If I Cannot Take The Entrance Exam On The Day That It Is Given?

If you cannot take the entrance exam on Nov. 23, we will accept standardized test scores from another school's exam who will either forward them directly to us upon request or via a score report that you will forward to us.  Please contact the Director of Admission at the school where you are planning to take the test to verify that they will share test scores with Marianapolis.  You can also take the SSAT on December 7, 2013 or January 4, 2014 and have the score reported to us. Our SSAT school code is 4830.  For more information about registering for the SSAT, please see www.ssat.org.

Taking the SSAT or an entrance or placement exam at another school will forfeit your eligibility for a Trinity Foundation Scholarship.  For more information on what makes a prospective 9th grade applicant eligible for a Trinity Foundation Scholarship, please see the Tuition and Financial Aid page of our website.
